General information about cookies

Types of cookies according to who places them: Whether a cookie is first or third party depends on the domain that places it.

  • First-party cookies are cookies that are placed by us, i.e. by the website that you visit.
  • Third-party cookies are cookies that are placed by another domain than that of the website you visit. As such, when you visit our Website, (because we work with certain third parties, for certain purposes) that other entity may place a cookie on your computer.

Types of cookies according to the retention period: Our Website contains both 'persistent' and 'session' cookies.

  • Persistent cookies will remain on your computer for the period specified in the cookie. They are activated every time you visit the website that created that cookie.
  • Session cookies are stored on your computer for the duration of the browser session.  A browser session starts when you open the browser window and ends when you close the browser window. Session cookies are therefore created temporarily: as soon as you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.

Types of cookies according to their intended use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies are those which are required in order for a website to function and provide basic functionality. They cannot be disabled.
  • Performance cookies are cookies that serve to collect general information about the way visitors use a website, and are aggregated and anonymised. The information thus collected can be used for statistical analyses.
  • Functional cookies are cookies that are intended to provide additional functionality such as forms, recaptcha, videos, chat functionality and satisfaction surveys.
  • Advertising cookies are cookies set by advertisers on a website to provide you with personalised and more relevant content.
  • Social media cookies are generally the result of embedded elements of third parties in a website (so-called plug-ins), which allow the content of the website to be shared using buttons ("share" and "like") on social media

This version is valid until January 31st. You can find the new version of our cookie policy here.

Our website uses so-called "cookies". Cookies are small information files that are temporarily or permanently stored on your computer or device by a website's server via the browser and that simplify, complete and personalise the use of the website.

  • Necessary functional cookies
These cookies are indispensable for visiting the website and for using all functionalities. If cookies are disabled, some parts of the website may not work optimally.

  • Performance-analysis cookies
Infrabel uses performance and analysis cookies to collect general information about how visitors use its website. Statistical analyses can be derived from the information collected in this way. • Advertising cookies
These are cookies that Infrabel uses to offer you personalised and more relevant advertisements, to determine how many times a certain advertisement has already been shown, to calculate the effectiveness of a certain advertising campaign, to keep track of data from a previous visit and to share the data collected with the third parties involved, such as the advertisers. They are used on this website and placed on your device by third parties such as companies associated with Infrabel and advertisers belonging to the advertising network of this website.

  2. Facebook Pixel: this is an image invisible to you that is included on the pages of our website and that is stored on Facebook's servers. Each time you open a page of our site where the Facebook pixel is included, this pixel is downloaded to your device from that Facebook server. The following data is provided to Facebook: your IP address and the specific characteristics of your device (e.g. type, operating system, specific software and hardware).

While we cannot link this information to you personally, Facebook is able to do so if you also have a profile on Facebook. To this end, Facebook acts as the data controller. We therefore invite you to consult Facebook's privacy policy in order to learn about the purposes (including advertising purposes) for which the browse information collected by Facebook is used.

We only receive statistical information from Facebook itself and not your personal data.
